Themes

Education

Twaweza Afrika Foundation has been passionate about education both from the basic to tertiary levels. The foundation has been involved in sensitization matters to ensure that kids from their early ages get access to education, are retained in school and are able to transition to the next levels as needed.
The foundation has also moved a step higher and has been a major contributor to forum on education including the Presidential Working Party on Education by giving inputs for considerations. It is also a strong member with Values and Life Skills (VaLi- TVeTs Kenya) where it has amplified its voice on issues with regards to Technical and Vocational Institutions in the Country. As a member of Elimu-
Yetu Coalition, the foundation prides itself as being a champion in the welfare of school going children, breaking the barriers in access to education by both the boys and the girls which includes championing against social vices such as child labor, crime and other forms of exploitations. The foundation is also a member of the County Education Network-Narok.

Environment and Climate Change

Our environmental is our source of livelihoods and taking care of it is equal to safeguarding our future and the generations to come. Twaweza Afrika Foundations core mandate is to ensure that the environmental degradation has been brought to an end, encourage reforestation of forested lands, promote agroforestry, inculcate a culture of planting trees amongst the younger generation and help the older generation in enforcing conservation measures.
The foundation also aims to promote alternative sources of energy that is environmentally friendly and which helps reduce the emission of carbon so as to safeguard the ozone layer thus reducing global warming and its effects. This has been achieved through the establishment of tree nurseries and supporting local and grass root organizations and individuals whenever there is
a need for this.

Gender

Ensuring gender equality has been a major problem in the country and even as the government and other non-governmental grapples with ending the inequalities by promoting the rights and welfares of the girl child, the boy child has been left unattended to and in neglect and the foundation has not shied off in trying to fill the vacuum and save the boy from neglect. The organization has even gone ahead to work through and with the boy child to promote the
welfare of the girl child all in order for them to see that they are all considered and not left out in any way.

Mental Health and Wellness

Our Health is our wealth, this is the driving force behind our activities at Twaweza because we can and this is one of the major reasons as to why the
organization was established post Covid-19 pandemic. In aim to protect the welfare of the people, the organization found it good to see that those who suffer from mental health issues especially the men, obtained the necessary medical assistance through referrals from the organization to the local facilities, counselling services and treatment.

The organization also works with partner organizations to do outreach mental health programs to workplaces, schools, eviction camps, and even prisons. The foundations has also worked to target street families by providing basic utilities that can help them sustain their livelihoods with more programs in place for them to see that they find sources of income and leave the streets.
